    Goals This course aims to introduce students to the essential concepts of Middle Eastern History and culture and to teach the main social, economic, political and ideological developments of the region from the collapse of the Ottoman Empire to nowadays. By following both chronological and thematic approaches, this course aims to enrich the students? perspective by ushering in various topics and eras of modern Middle Eastern cultures and history
    Content The reasons of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the development of nationalism as a political ideology in the Middle East, the emergence of independent Aran states, Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Middle East during the Cold War Era, the İslamic Revolution in Iran, the Gulf War, 9/11 and its impacts to the region, the Arab Spring
