    2-Evaluate the approaches to the meaning and importance of sunnah for in contemporary times.
    3-Analyse the oppositions and the criticisms directed to the sunnah in modern times.
    4-Recognize the different approaches to the sunnah in the modern times.
    5-Evaluate the views of orientalists and modernists to the sunnah.

    Goals Students will recognize the debated contemporary problems related to hadith, history of hadith and methodology of hadith, and to provide solutions to these problems.
    Content In this course, old and new definitions of sunnah and hadith, place and importance of sunnah in Islam, opposition to sunnah and hadith from the early period to the modern times, the criticisms directed to the hadith and their answers, the other problems related to hadith are studied and debated.
