Goals The objective of this course is to familiarize students with some of the global forestry issues currently of greatest concern. This will be done by examining particular issues, such as deforestation and the loss of biodiversity, and relating these to forest practices in particular countries. In particular, students should have gained an understanding of the complexity of factors associated with deforestation and forest degradation in the tropics.
Content Within the scope of the course, population movements on a global scale, effects of migration on deforestation, other problems stemming from migration, legal regulations and important reports of international organizations will be covered.
