Goals The aim of this course is to explain the basic principles in machine design, evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of manufacturing methods, and plan the design, manufacturing and after-sales processes of a product.
Content Material selection. Physical properties of materials (specific gravity, electrical and thermal conductivity, melting-solidification point, expansion coefficient, magnetization, etc.) and the effects of properties on material selection. The effects of mechanical properties of materials (such as tensile, shear, compression and impact strength, fatigue resistance, hardness and toughness) on material selection. Matters to be considered in manufacturing. Metal coating methods (electrical shielding, metal spraying, hot dip coating, galvanization coating, phosphating, etc.). Basic causes of corrosion, experimental explanation of electro-chemical corrosion and corrosion prevention methods. Definitions of plastic forming methods (bending, bending, forging, casting, deep drawing, welding, precision molding processes, etc.) of materials and their effects on material selection. Design criteria Description of cost inputs (such as material, machine tool, labor, operation, depreciation, packaging and service), cost calculation of a part. The ergonomics of safety and the importance of accident prevention tools. The meaning of ergonomics in human-machine relations. Ergonomic factors related to the use of simple devices.
