The aim of this course is to teach developments in the world post-1789 French Revolution, the impacts of these developments on the Ottoman rule, the representatives of the Ottoman state, new institutions in the process of modernization duringearlyRepublicanera.

The developments in Europe after the French Revolution; the periods of Selim the Third and Mahmoud the Second; developments in the fields of institutional, education and legal developments; Young Ottomans; Young Turks; Monarchy; Constitutional Monarchy; Meclis-ı Mebusan; Ayan; the Committee of Union and Progress Party; the ruling and opposition; ideologies of Second Constitutional period; the heritage from Ottoman Empire; the formation of new nation in the fields of language and history studies.
