Goals To understand sediment formation in sedimentary basins, to understand the relationship between sediment formation and the geology of the basin, to recognize natural and artificial factors affecting sediment transport (solids), to question the filling of the dam lake by sediments brought by streams, to evaluate the measures applied to reduce the rate of sediment filling.
Content Sediment formation. Basic properties of sediments (granulometry, grain shape, density and porosity of sediment) Sediment resource areas (basins) and their geology. Effects of landslides, floods and floods on sediment formation and / or transport. Sandblasting of the reservoir by sediments carried by the streams. Examples from Turkey.
