    1 Introduction to the course; Entry, purpose and learning objectives
    2 Introduction to microbiology, the basic properties and importance of microorganisms
    3 Classification and nomenclature of microorganisms. Microorganisms that of medical importance
    4 Cell structure, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell properties. General characteristics and structural elements of bacteria
    5 Interaction between microorganisms, microorganism-environment and organism relations. Flora and microbiota
    6 Basic bacterial morphology and sequence patterns. Differences between Gram negative and positive bacterial wall
    7 Preparation of microbiological samples. Dyeing techniques (simple staining, Gram staining, EZN)

    9 Cultivation of microorganisms. Types and properties of mediums.
    10 Antimicrobial drugs and their effect mechanisms . Determination of resistance and susceptibility of microorganisms to antibiotics. Hospital infections, drug resistance and its importance

    Goals The aim of this course is to teach general characteristics of microorganisms which are causative agents of human diseases, microbial flora, sterilization-disinfection, microorganism genetics and metabolism, microbiology laboratory tools, preparation and staining methods, planting methods, colony characteristics, antibiotic susceptibility tests.
    Content Tha basic features and classification of microorganisms, microorganisms that of medical importance, morphologies of bacteria, staining methods, types of mediums, antimicrobial drugs and antibiotic susceptibility tests
